From the Editor

Welcome to our summer 2010 edition of the CCAS newsletter.  I think you will find this newsletter packed with information that you will find both informative and educational.

For all those who attended the CCAS  conference in San Antonio I would like you to join me in congratulating Emad Mossad on a job very well done.  One of the significant highlights of the meeting for me was the discussion of a specific cardiac lesion from the perspective of several different specialties  which highlighted to me the need for more interdisciplinary collaboration in caring for these complicated patients.

One of the missions of the CCAS is continuing education, and to that end Mark Twite will be developing a new educational program that he has detailed within this newsletter.  I would ask our membership to feel free and contact Mark with any educational ideas that you believe would benefit our membership.  The future of our specialty and this society depends heavily on the new generation of pediatric anesthesia and pediatric cardiac anesthesia fellows.

I would ask that each and every one of us that works and educates these young physicians encourage them to become active members in the SPA and CCAS.  Enjoy the newsletter and as always  contact me with any ideas you have for future newsletters.
